Coca-Cola 600 Rain Delayed Finish

David Reutimann gets his first Sprint Cup Win and the first win for Michael Waltrip Racing. In a race that was rain delayed from Sunday to Monday and then for another two hours after lap 227, Reutimann's Team had the winning strategy. At lap 221, pit road opened but Reutimann, who was in 14th place, stayed out under caution. By lap 227, the race was stopped and two hours later, officially called with Reutimann in the lead.

No, this isn't the way he wanted to win nor is it the way the fans wanted to see it but let's face it, in this sport, weather and strategy go hand-in-hand. Ted Turner will be the first to tell you that weather played a major roll in several of his storied sailing victories but so did the strategy he employed. So, this isn't anything new. Yes, we would all have loved to see a full race but let's be honest, it is also nice to see someone come from behind with a smart play to take the prize.

Congratulations David, MWR, and Toyota (their first non-Joe Gibbs win)!
